iPhone 14 Suppliers Are Facing Quality Issues For Camera Lens; How Will Apple Resolve This Big Problem?

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that some of Apple’s suppliers for iPhone 14’s panel and RAM experienced quality issues.

Multiple suppliers

This led Apple to adjust its component orders until the issue is resolved.

This should have a limited impact on the mass production since the tech giant has diversified its iPhone 14 suppliers to avoid launch delays due to component shortages.

Therefore it will not rely on a single supplier and a single supplier cannot shut down production due to its failings.

Issues with camera lenses

However it is being reported that yet another Apple supplier – Genius – is facing quality issues, this time related to the iPhone 14’s rear lenses.

One of Genius’ iPhone 14 rear lenses likely suffered from coating-crack quality issues.

Apple is temporarily moving its component ordering to another company.

It transferred about 10 million lens orders to Largan to avoid shipment delays.

Another supplier to the rescue

Since the Taiwanese company is capable of filling the supply gap the impact on iPhone 14 shipments can almost be ignored.

Largan is more suitable for this adjustment since it could resume the production of the lenses for the iPhone 14 units.

Genius will need at least two months to fix the problem and if it can’t,  Largan will receive more orders from Apple for the lenses.

Series lineup

The iPhone 14 series is expected to be unveiled in September.

Rumors say that the lineup will comprise four models –

the 6.1-inch iPhone 14
6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max
6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro
6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max

Upgrades

There won’t be a Mini version.

Upgrades from the predecessor include a faster processor and a pill-shaped cutout design.

The smartphone might get a 48MP wide camera, an ideal feature for quality video recording.

Pricing, sales

A recent report said that the upcoming iPhone is likely to be $100 costlier than iPhone 13.

Sales should go as scheduled if there are no supply issues hitting mass production.
